This is a photo of myself with some of my brothers and sisters in UPLB MASS taken in December 2004 at UPLB’s Carabao Park. After an org activity, we decided to just dick around the park and bask in the simple beauty of a cool December evening while being surrounded by Christmas lights and friends. It was just us, the trees, the stars, the lights, and the pond. That was what being in UP Los Baños meant to me. Simple joys. Complex relationships. All under the warm shadow of Oble.

But enough about me and my nostalgia. I’m writing this post to invite you to share your UP photos that show how special UP is to you. Not only will you be sharing your UP moments, you will also get the chance to win face-rocking prizes!

febfair 2008

It was that time of the year again. It was time for UPLB Alumni to leave all their woes in the big city and go through Friday traffic en route to that small magical town at the foot of a mystical mountain. It was time for us to come home to the grass and the stars. It was the last night of UPLB FebFair 2008. And it was glorious.

I had my doubts, though. I was thinking “Fuck, I’m old. And I’m gonna feel much older when I go back. It’s going to take a miracle for me to enjoy the hell out of this night. Huhu.” But I was wrong. Nostalgia aside, going back to UPLB still feels like coming back home. Beer tastes better. Time is immaterial. The grass is green and the girls are pretty. Dammit, it’s Paradise City.

This entry is part 4 of 4 in the series Ilocos Locos

After 3 days of The MASStig Ilocos Adventure Team being on the road, dicking around at the beach, and violating songs via videoke over a river, we spent our 4th and last day appreciating Philippine history, Chavit’s Baluarte, and kalesa rides in Vigan. And of course, there was the road trip back to Manila. Like all great road trips, the journey back home always seems the shortest. But it was still fun, though. Anyway, here’s the last batch of photos chronicling the soon-to-be legendary Ilocos adventure of UPLB MASS. Ladies and gentlefreaks, Baddie & UPLB MASS’ Invasion of The North - Day 4:

This is me in front of the oldest McDonald’s in the whole world! Seriously.

This entry is part 3 of 4 in the series Ilocos Locos

After Day 2, 6 of us left Ilocos to go back to Manila. And then there were 11. But that didn’t stop the remaining members of The MASStig Ilocos Adventure Team from having some more fun. For Day 3, we went to a nearby river, which we affectionately call “Ang Ilog na Malupet”, that had cottages on top of it. But those cottages didn’t make the river “malupet”. Inside those cottages were videoke machines! I mean, videoke machines! Inside cottages! Elevated by bamboo foundations over a freakin’ river! And after that, we visited the 414-year old (more or less) Paoay Church and then we ate exotic Ilocos dishes. And to end the day, like the first 2 days, we let alcohol put us to sleep. Now, in photo-speak, let me show you Baddie & UPLB MASS’ Invasion of The North - Day 3:

This is the M.I.A. Team heading towards our cottage over “Ang Ilog na Malupet”.

This entry is part 2 of 4 in the series Ilocos Locos

Since we, The MASStig Ilocos Adventure Team, spent most of Day 1 on the road and getting drunk on the beach, we enjoyed the long sleep. And we definitely enjoyed waking up in beautiful Pagudpud. We spent the rest of the day sightseeing, road tripping, and generally just dicking around. And since it was Good Friday, we still had the taste to respect traditions so we did a Bisita Iglesia, which we didn’t finish since most of us were already tired like hell. I can go on and on about this exhausting day, but let me just let the photos tell the rest of the story. So ladies and gentlefreaks, this is Baddie & UPLB MASS’ Invasion of The North - Day 2:

This is me affirming myself that smoking on the beach is awesome.
