Like I said on my other blog, 2006 was the year when reading comic books became an addiction for me. The year when I began to love Wednesdays (in my case, since I’m here in the Philippines, it’s Thursdays since new books arrive here in the afternoon or evening of Thursdays). And since the year’s over, I’d like to make a list (an awesome list) of things that made my addiction worth my hard-earned money. In no particular order:

A few days ago, I went to my favorite comic book shop, ComicQuest at the Festival Mall. I do that every week. Well, mostly every week. I try to be there every Thursday night so I can be one of the first geeks to see the new comics for the week. It has been a routine. And my wallet hates me for it. Oh, sweet wallet. So naive to the perils of Baddie having a job and a steady flow of cash.

Anyway, this particular trip to the four-color heaven I call ComicQuest was special. Usually, the only females there are the clerks. Rarely do I see female customers. If they’re there, they’re with their boyfriends. Or sons. Or husbands. Or brothers. This trip was different. There were 2 female customers. One of them was a chubby girl with her guy friends trying to look for a gift for someone. That someone was probably a Transformers geek since the girl was hellbent on finding a Transformers comic or action figure that would agree with her budget. The other girl… well, she’s a goddess.
