This entry is part 12 of 12 in the series Weekly Haul

end of a long haul

12 is a good solid number, isn’t it? 12 months. 12 apostles. 12 monkeys. It even has a nickname: Dozen. So with this good solid number, I’m ending this whole Weekly Haul series. Don’t rejoice just yet. This doesn’t mean that I’ll stop talking about comics. I’ll just stop enumerating and reviewing my weekly comic book purchases. I don’t know. It just became too much work, I guess. Especially when I’m starting to miss my self-imposed weekly deadlines. No point in doing a series of weekly posts and calling it “Weekly Haul” if it’s not weekly, right? Besides, I need to dedicate some more blogging time to other stuff like entertainment and technology news, videos of hot emo chicks kissing each other, and retard porn.

So yeah, this is the last post of my Weekly Haul series. Let’s get it over with, shall we? SPOILERS ahoy!

This entry is part 11 of 12 in the series Weekly Haul

drinky crow

Just call me Drinky. I’m slowly putting a stop to this weekly comic book addiction. Well, not actually stopping it. More like controlling it. I’m trying to limit my comic book purchases to Php1,000 a week. Maybe after that, I can totally remove weekly hauls. But that doesn’t mean I’m quitting comics altogether. I just need more beer money.

In line with this mission, I’m not picking up new monthlies and even minis. I’m planning to just go for the trades. And maybe just a few can’t-miss monthlies. As a testament to my loyalty to this mission, I managed to stay clear of DC’s Countdown, which is the company’s follow-up weekly series to 52. Yay for me!

Anyhoo, on to this week’s haul. With SPOILERS, as usual.

This entry is part 1 of 17 in the series DVD Library

OK I’m starting another stupid “series” again, and this time, it’s all about DVDs. In my Weekly Haul series, I talk about my most recent comic book purchases. For this new series, I’m going to talk about my recent DVD purchases, and I’d like to call it *drumroll* DVD Library! I am so creative.

I shall start with a movie that took more than 10 months before I saw it. A movie that took more than a decade to finally push through. A movie that’s supposed to be the biggest and greatest comic book movie of our time, but sadly became another would-be usurper to Spider-Man’s throne. I’m talking about Superman Returns.

The Story: I’m just satisfied and not blown away. I’m also mildly irritated since they say the first Superman movie is a pseudo-prologue of this movie. That’s a confusing statement. I just wish they didn’t say that and instead, started from scratch like Batman Begins. They could’ve still paid homage to Richard Donner’s movie by putting in sly nods to it, instead of dwelling on it too much. And the kid! The goddamn kid. Don’t get me wrong, the kid’s a nice addition to the mythos, and a great source of drama for the characters, but it just feels so wrong. And I’d like to hear Bryan Singer explain how the hell did it exactly happen. You do not tug on Superman’s cape, and you do not give him a bastard son!

weekly haul 1

Before I explain that X-Week isn’t what you think it is (you perv), let me just bore you with the recent developments within the confines of this blog (you know Baddie doesn’t have a life when all developments he can report are about his blog).

While I was starting development on the new UPLB MASS Online this past week, I discovered a few new cool stuff in K2 (my WordPress theme, not the company I work for) in its latest release, version 0.9.5. I decided to upgrade my K2 0.9.1 installation with this mother. I won’t go into details, but I fucked up my blog big time. Good thing I managed to backup my database and my files right before I did the upgrade. Nevertheless, things are back to normal. Well, actually I’d like to think things are better now with my new links page, which I dubbed “Black Holes“, and my new and really neat archives page, which I dubbed… umm… “Archives“. Yeah, I ran out of clever space-related words.
