This entry is part 4 of 12 in the series Weekly Haul

OK. There was so much going on at work lately and I was also busy rekindling my romantic obsession with UPLB. In fact, I still haven’t recovered from my org’s activity last Saturday that ended the way it usually does: dozens of beer bottles inside and outside a small apartment, and several wasted bodies scattered all over the floor. More on that activity in a later post. Anyway, the point is I didn’t have the time to geek out on the web last week so I have yet to catch up on the latest news and rumors in the comic book world. So this week, I’m going straight to my weekly haul. And I’ll be doing it short and sweet. SPOILERS! I think.

52 #43 52 #43: A rumble in the heart of the Rock of Eternity. Marvel Family versus the Black Marvel Family (who aren’t really black). They kiss and make up.

Animal Man is resurrected and apparently uses the powers of the Sun Eaters to go back home. Lady Styx is reborn in a very gross way.

The fourth Horseman is revealed to be Osiris‘ sidekick crocodile, Sobek. After going all emo and shit, Osiris gives up his powers, making him Sobek’s main course. Yum.

I give this 4 out of 5 yummy ribs stuck in Sobek’s teeth.

action comics #846 Action Comics #846: Continuing the run of Geoff Johns and Richard Donner (yes, the director dude of the first two Superman movies), this issue feels like I’m watching an episode of Smallville. Which isn’t a bad thing.

Nice origin story of the Phantom Zone villains. Nice art too. Too bad the next chapter won’t be coming soon. Bummer.

It’s going to be a long wait, especially with this issue’s cool cliffhanger: Superman trapped in the Phantom Zone and dozens (or even hundreds!) of freed prisoners from that prison dimension rain down on Metropolis! Wicked.

I give this 4 out of 5 freckles on Jimmy Olsen’s stupid face.
