San Miguel Oktoberfest 120 (Siento Bente!) was officially launched on September 5th, 2008. It was my first Oktoberfest launch and it was very… interesting, to say the least. Why? I’LL TELL YOU WHY!

Had a couple of beers with Bim and Mike at Sidebar after we got our complimentary (I’m living the dream!) tickets from Juned (Thanks, Juned and Fritz!). Yes, we drank beer to warm up for an event that’s all about drinking beer. That’s how we roll.

Bim and Lauren had the foresight to not enter the event premises and wade through a sea of sweaty emo kids, fat drunkards, and tattoed punks. Mike and I didn’t. We navigated an ocean of sweat, unpleasant body odor, and inappropriate body contact. It wasn’t pretty. On the plus side, I got to touch a few nice female butts.

Yes, after several years of failed attempts at controlling fire, I’ve finally done it! I always knew I was special. Mutant special. And now that I’ve discovered my previously latent mutant pyrokinetic ability, I’m wondering if I have other superhuman powers. I’m determined to find out, and I believe I can discover the truth with the help of my trusty old friend, SCIENCE!

You should know that there’s no one better in utilizing SCIENCE! than me. I’m a frickin’ scientist! I mean, I graduated with a Bachelor of SCIENCE! degree in Computer SCIENCE! I have a piece of paper to prove it! And seriously, you just can’t argue with a piece of paper. Sure, it took me 7 years to finish the damn course, but still.

So, without further ado, here’s my short quest in finding out if I have other awesome abilities… using SCIENCE!

So I was rummaging through my photos for something I can use for my eLBi Life post the other day, and guess what I found? GUESS!

drunk cat

A picture of that cat from our apartment back in college! It wasn’t our cat. It was just always there, hovering like your annoying nerd friend. I took this photo one morning after an extremely belly-busting bout with beer. I guess we were so drunk, our collective beer smell intoxicated the poor thing. Good times.

It was that time of the year again. It was time for UPLB Alumni to leave all their woes in the big city and go through Friday traffic en route to that small magical town at the foot of a mystical mountain. It was time for us to come home to the grass and the stars. It was the last night of UPLB FebFair 2008. And it was glorious.

I had my doubts, though. I was thinking “Fuck, I’m old. And I’m gonna feel much older when I go back. It’s going to take a miracle for me to enjoy the hell out of this night. Huhu.” But I was wrong. Nostalgia aside, going back to UPLB still feels like coming back home. Beer tastes better. Time is immaterial. The grass is green and the girls are pretty. Dammit, it’s Paradise City.

I let the world know about my desires for Christmas this year, and lo and behold, the world has granted me half of my two-item Christmas wish list (OK, not the world. The parental units. Thanks, Mom and Dad!) mere days before Christmas. I have now in my possession a totally awesome and totally shiny iPod touch. Let me show you it! First, the packaging:

It’s a tight little box made of sturdy stuff. I have perfume boxes bigger than this baby, and I fell in love with it immediately. See, I’d like to think of myself as a minimalist. That’s what makes me helplessly attracted to Apple products. In design terms, anyway. So, yeah. It got me at “Hello”.
