They say a picture is worth a thousand words. I guess a photo not taken is a chunk of story left out, maybe even an entire story never told.

I’m taking a lot of pictures lately, maybe because I started my own Project 365, and I just realized that there were a lot of things, people and moments that I should’ve preserved in a photo. This is why I’m starting this blog series called I Wish I Took A Photo. I’m going to fill in the missing pieces of the story told by a series of photographs I’ve taken. I’m going to start with my recently concluded beach trip with some UPLB MASS brothers and sisters in Tingloy, Batangas (or as I like to call it, Tingloy Awesome Escapade). I left my camera’s battery at home so I was forced to document the 3-day trip with my camera phone. I’m not used to using my phone as a camera. Hence, fewer photos. I’m a dumbass.

I took a photo of the front of the boat on our way to Tingloy from the port of Mabini.

Like A Pirate Lord

I wish I took a photo of my open fly. The sea breeze felt great down there. I wish I took a photo of our faces while the locals were telling their wacky stories about island life and deadly boat collisions. I wish I took a photo of my sleeping friends. I envied them because I only had 2 hours of sleep. I wish I took a photo of the boat captain’s face every time he yelled at me because I was blocking his view. He was like “I can’t see, boy!” and I was like “Whatever.”

It has never been about the destination or the distance or the awesome view whenever I go on a trip with my UPLB MASS brothers and sisters. It has always been about the company and how we find ways to have a bloody good time no matter where we are.

I’ve been staying away from memes since I can’t say NO to them. It’s like a sickness, really. Whenever people tag me, I’m like “GODDAMMIT!!!” and then I’m like “YAY HEEHEE!” I even dedicated a category on this blog for quizzes and memes. Don’t judge me! Or at least don’t let me know you’re judging me.

Anyway, The Jew tagged me. I’m supposed to share the different names that different people call me. And here we are. Here are the names I go by:

San Miguel Oktoberfest 120 (Siento Bente!) was officially launched on September 5th, 2008. It was my first Oktoberfest launch and it was very… interesting, to say the least. Why? I’LL TELL YOU WHY!

Had a couple of beers with Bim and Mike at Sidebar after we got our complimentary (I’m living the dream!) tickets from Juned (Thanks, Juned and Fritz!). Yes, we drank beer to warm up for an event that’s all about drinking beer. That’s how we roll.

Bim and Lauren had the foresight to not enter the event premises and wade through a sea of sweaty emo kids, fat drunkards, and tattoed punks. Mike and I didn’t. We navigated an ocean of sweat, unpleasant body odor, and inappropriate body contact. It wasn’t pretty. On the plus side, I got to touch a few nice female butts.

This is a photo of myself with some of my brothers and sisters in UPLB MASS taken in December 2004 at UPLB’s Carabao Park. After an org activity, we decided to just dick around the park and bask in the simple beauty of a cool December evening while being surrounded by Christmas lights and friends. It was just us, the trees, the stars, the lights, and the pond. That was what being in UP Los Baños meant to me. Simple joys. Complex relationships. All under the warm shadow of Oble.

But enough about me and my nostalgia. I’m writing this post to invite you to share your UP photos that show how special UP is to you. Not only will you be sharing your UP moments, you will also get the chance to win face-rocking prizes!
