Midnight Mercato @ BGC

It was my first time at Midnight Mercato the other night. I wrote a Pros And Cons piece on Banchetto so I might as well write one for this Bonifacio Global City night market. I went there with Maggie expecting a similar ambiance to that of Banchetto. More or less, we were wrong. Let’s first look at the pros.

Red Lantern Maggie and Carte du Jour

Man, if you like blog posts that only promote businesses and websites, then you will absolutely LOVE this one. Let me start by telling you about my girlfriend, Maggie. She’s cute. She has also started dabbling in WordPress and that led to her sort of new blog hosted right here on bigbaddie.com. Check it out. She just started but I bet you can expect stuff like food reviews and murderous rants in the future.

Maggie Cortez of Earth, you have great rage in your heart. Welcome to the Red Lantern Corps!

Now let me tell you about my sister, Gladys. She likes clothes. And selling stuff. That combo of likes is a pretty solid basis for starting a clothing and accessories business. She calls it Carte du Jour, named after our last name. I don’t know anything about fashion but I’m still going to tell you to buy stuff from her because I can. Or at least like the Facebook page. Thanks. That is all.

Fiery Deliciousness from Uno Burger at Banchetto Megatent

I’ve never been one to back down from a food challenge — this is why I’m fat — so after I got my first taste of Uno Burger‘s Chili Peppercorn Burger during the last night of Banchetto Emerald, I just had to consume another. So last night, after watching Transformers: Dark of the Moon and dicking around 3 separate malls (long story) with Maggie, we went to Banchetto Megatent for another round of hot chili peppercorn burger-y goodness.

Banchetto Megatent Pros and Cons

There are only 3 things in the world right now that move me to tears — my girlfriend’s pretty face, that Van Gogh episode of Doctor Who and Banchetto. I almost cried manly tears when it left Emerald Avenue with an uncertain future ahead of it. And it almost made me cry again when it came back with a vengeance. This time, it’s Banchetto Megatent.

I went with Maggie to Banchetto last Friday, its 2nd week at Megatent. She loves stuffing her face with food as much as I do. When she’s at Banchetto, she says she feels like a kitten in calorie heaven. “NOMNOM EAT BEFORE RAPCHAR” the fine lass said during Banchetto Emerald‘s last night. She becomes a crazy apocalyptic cat when Banchetto is involved. The perfect companion in checking out Banchetto Reborn. We made a few observations, some good and some not so good, while stuffing our faces with potatoes, pasta and chicken.

We didn’t take photos at Banchetto so here’s a photo of chicken wings from BonChon instead.

I Survived Forever 21

To all my fellow dudes out there, heed this message! I have been to the glittery realm of chicks. I have been to the space where the brotherhood of the Y chromosome fear to tread. I have been to the regions beyond the human straight male’s understanding. I have been to Forever 21 at Megamall. It is vast and seemingly endless. Entering it is like staring into forever.

I explored this alien world with a female guide codenamed Rocketgirl. Take note that having a girl guide you through the treacherous designer landscape of Forever 21 will not make it less confusing, intimidating and scary. I expected a relatively large area filled with racks of clothes and other feminine things, but the sheer enormity of it all blew me away. Every time I expect to meet the end of the room, a new section unravels. It is a never-ending sea of fabric and metal and plastic and females and dejected boyfriends. However, fear not, my brothers. As you travel through the valleys of shorts and pants and tops and other pieces of clothing with names that will always escape your memory, you will find safe havens where you can collect your thoughts and rest your tired body.
