Ashley McDowell was just minding her own business at the parking lot of a South Carolina McDonald’s when she was approached by two black dudes. They offered to sell her an iPad for $300 but she only had $180. Luckily for her (not really), the black dudes accepted the $180 and everybody was happy — until dear Ashley got home, opened the box and found out that her new iPad was actually just a piece of wood with a painted Apple logo.

I have to give props to the scammers, though. They put some effort into their craft by painting the piece of wood black and adding some painted iPad app icons on the “screen”. Â If you don’t want to become another Ashley McDowell, here are a few tips on preventing yourself from buying an iPad which is actually just a piece of wood.

I’ve read wonderful news about all 3 of these books from FanExpo 2011. Alpha Flight is now an ongoing series, Marvel will be releasing a 5-issue mini-series in 2012 called Destroyers and the JSA will still be around after the DC Reboot. Internet high five!
So far, I’m enjoying Alpha Flight by Greg Pak, Fred Van Lente and Dale Eaglesham. First of all, I’ve been a fan of Dale Eaglesham ever since I saw his work on one of my favorite DC books, Justice Society of America. He’s just doing wonders on Canada’s super-team.
Let’s not forget about the new and exciting world that is being built by Pak and Van Lente. I loved them in Incredible Hercules and I still love them in Alpha Flight. The Canadian superheroes have never been this cool and interesting as far as I’m concerned. This is why I’m ecstatic about the announcement that the current mini-series will continue on as a monthly series.

When I was trying to figure out who the shadows are in the Uncanny X-Men #1 teaser, I said I saw Magneto, Namor and possibly Magik and Colossus. Also, I hoped that the pair of feet behind Emma Frost was Cyclops. Now, thanks to a leak, I know that Magneto, Magik and Colossus are indeed in that image. Most importantly, that pair of feet really is Cyclops. YES! I got Namor wrong, though. What I thought was Namor’s silhouette is actually Danger’s. Overall, I’m pretty happy with this group which I assume is not the complete Uncanny X-Men roster.

Check out these past tales of the Uncanny X-Men:

Before we proceed, let me just inform you that I have not read the Harry Potter books. I’ve only seen the movies. You can boo me all you want but I can’t hear you over the sound of me exploring Pottermore. Deal with it.

Actually, it’s 3 clicks away.
I got the magical Pottermore email this morning but I must say I got more excited when I saw the email about Firefox 6.0. That doesn’t mean I wasn’t excited to check out Pottermore, though. So after I was done with work, I opened the email again and clicked on the link. I signed in and BAM!

I haven’t read a single issue of Locke & Key but watching this trailer for the pilot episode of the TV adaptation is enough to pique my interest. Unfortunately, the pilot wasn’t picked up by Fox. Boo. Now, just like with the Wonder Woman show that never was, I have to hunt down the unaired Locke & Key pilot. Thanks a lot, leaked trailer. Watch it after the jump.
