Baddie 2009

It’s that time of the year again, ladies and gentlemen. Time to reflect on the past 12 months. Time for my most important blog entry of 2009. Time for my obligatory Year in Review post. And since this is the last year of this decade, this is going to be EPIC. Let’s get it on!

2009 sucked balls. That is all.

Happy New Year, fools!

10 Things I Learned from Where the Wild Things Are

I just saw Spike Jonze’s movie adaptation of Maurice Sendak’s classic children’s story. I expected to laugh my face off because hey, we’re talking about a cast mostly composed of giant ugly Muppets here. Surprisingly, the mascots from Hell didn’t take me out of the story. I very much enjoyed this whole wild rumpus of a movie.

Also, I learned a few things from watching it and I’m going to share these wild lessons right nnnnnnnNOW!

1. Good times never last but you can have as many as you like.

2. It’s all fun and games until someone steps on someone’s head.

3. Things and people change. But mostly people.

Stubby Movie Review: Superman/Batman – Public Enemies

This entry is part 10 of 15 in the series Stubby Movie Reviews

superman/batman: public enemies

What I like about it is they changed the ending. It wouldn’t really be appropriate for Captain Atom to be the biggest hero in a Superman/Batman movie. It worked in the comics, though.

I also like the fact that they stuck with Ed McGuinness’ art style. It looks awesome in animation.

As with most straight-to-DVD animated movies from both Marvel and DC, the story is extremely compressed. I was disappointed that they left out the part where the Super family and the Bat family stormed the White House to confront Luthor about the whereabouts of Superman and Batman. That would’ve been fun to see animated. Also, we don’t see much of the dissection of the similarities and differences between Superman and Batman. That was a part of Jeph Loeb’s run on Superman/Batman that I really enjoyed. But eh, what are you gonna do?

Be My Santa DOOM?

Santa Doom

Dear friends,

For the last couple of years, I didn’t really ask much when I posted my Christmas wish lists. In fact, I was only serious about the iPod. I got it, by the way. I named him Molesto. He says hi.

This year, I want everything my shallow, shallow heart desires. I need you to be my Santa DOOM.

TV Show and Movie DVDs

You can give me anything that’s not on my Listal Owned DVD list for obvious reasons. I can’t give you a specific title that I badly want right now, so you can just run with the fact that I like movies and TV shows with explosions and zombies. Also, I love DVDs with tons of extras.

Stubby Movie Review: Funny People

This entry is part 9 of 15 in the series Stubby Movie Reviews

funny people

Man, that was a loooong-ass movie. Too long for me. I stopped caring after the bar scene with some funny people.

I loved the cameos. All of them. I would’ve liked it more if 75% of the movie was just those cameo people doing stand-up comedy a la The Original Kings of Comedy. If it was Norm Macdonald ranting about cheeseburgers for an hour and a half, I would declare this the greatest movie of all time. OF ALL TIME! Sadly, it’s just Apatow with a great idea and an uneven execution.

It had its truly funny and touching moments, sure. But for people with short attention spans like me, it could’ve been a lot shorter.
