November 27th, 2008 General Dickery
I’ve already mentioned the things I’m thankful for in my Blog Action Day post, but hey. It’s Thanksgiving Day. I want to express my gratitude via blog entry again. Besides, there’s nothing wrong with never running out of things you are thankful for, right? Right now, I just want to give thanks to a couple of inventors. First up is the inventor of the Internets:

Last year, I only had a 2-item wish list. I’m thinking I should have a bigger list this year. Maybe a 3-item one. Problem is, the 2 items I was totally wishing for for the past few months are already in my hands. So I guess I’m left with a 1-item wish list.

I’m pretty sure I can come up with more stuff to wish for before December, but for now, this is it. WOLVERINE-STYLE CLAWS! Two of them. Something to keep me busy when I’m bored. The legion of imaginary space zombies invading my room every night won’t smite themselves, amirite? Also, this will be a big help in my crusade against crime.
That is all.

Well, not immediately. I’m starting to really get serious with managing my finances and getting rid of things I don’t really need in my life right now. First on the chopping block: Buying Php1,000 worth (on average) of comics every week.
I currently follow around a dozen monthly titles and around a dozen mini-series. Plus, I get special issues related to the titles I follow. That puts me at an average of 6 comics per week. For someone who earns decent but not spectacular money and is trying to save up because he’s planning to move out (again) soon, this hobby is starting to hurt. Something’s gotta give. Hence I’ll be slowly getting rid of monthly comics in the coming weeks.

Since this is the first blog entry I’ll be posting via my new laptop, I think it’s just appropriate that I make this all about her. And when I say “her”, I mean the laptop. Her name is Luna, named after that trippy Harry Potter character, Luna Lovegood. I just finished a Harry Potter movie marathon when I bought her! Don’t judge me!

After months of saving up for my very own laptop, I finally bought one last Monday, and so far, she’s been a darling. I finally got around to install a wireless router too because really, a laptop is probably 80% useless without Internet connection.

Greetings, dear web log readers! I am Lord Bigus Baddiesworth IV, Historian-in-Training and the author of this Internet journal you are perusing. Today is November 5th, a date that is of notable importance to English history for it was the same day in 1605 when a group of young English Catholics plotted to remove King James I from his throne by blowing him up to Kingdom Come. There is no better time to start a new web log series about History than on a day with historical significance, don’t you agree? I shall call this series Quickie History Lesson for it is short and quite shockingly educational. Shall we begin? Excellent.
