I know, I know. Thanksgiving is a month away and we don’t officially celebrate Thanksgiving Day here in the Philippines, but what the hell. This year, Blog Action Day (with the theme Poverty) is my Thanksgiving Day. For Blog Action Day 2008, I’d like to talk about me being unaware of how blessed I am living a very comfortable life. Don’t worry, this isn’t going to be like my Blog Action Day post from last year. I’ll try not be retarded.
I know I complain about the most trivial stuff, and I guess this is the perfect time to fully acknowledge that pathetic truth. I have a lot to be thankful for in terms of material belongings and awesome Internet Age conveniences.
I’m thankful for having a roof over my head. A soft bed under my body. A healthy family around me.
I’m thankful for gas for my car. Food for my stomach. Beer for my bleeding heart.
I’m thankful for my cell phone, my watch, my TV, my computer, my iPod, my comics, my DVDs, and my Batman doll based on Tim Burton’s Batman movie from Jollibee.
I’m thankful for the Internet. The social networks I get to kill my time with. The videos that provide entertainment in the office.
I’m thankful I have a job. I’m thankful that, as screwed up as the world economy is, I can still buy the things I want if I have enough patience to save enough money. I’m thankful I have clothes to wear, regardless of how horrendous they may be. I’m thankful I was provided by my parents with the financial and emotional support I needed in order to finish college and brag about the education I got from one of the Philippine’s best universities.
I have so much to be thankful for. I bet the same goes for YOU too. So the next time you bitch about your cheeseless cheeseburger, consider that thousands of people are eating off garbage cans. I’m not asking you to let it go. You did pay for it so you have the right to complain. Just make sure that you appreciate what you have. Be thankful that you’re getting the opportunity to throw a fit about your precious fast food dining experience while people out there are starving to death. Fattie.
Let’s not settle for what we have. Let’s not forget to be thankful for them either. I’m just saying.

true, we don’t have thanksgiving here, but it’s good to give thanks.
for now, i turn to sites like freerice, kiva, and goodsearch, as ways to help alleviate poverty online.

Thanksgiving is celebrated in our community. Maybe, it depends on the host to execute his/her gratitude towards certain things.
