I’ve been defying my limit of comic book purchases per week for the last 3 weeks, and it feels so good. I do expect to cut down on some of the titles after Secret Invasion and Final Crisis. I’m starting to really despise big “events”. Bah. Now, onto the reviews!

X-Factor Special: Layla Miller – This one-shot made me regret not picking up the Quicksilver special, thinking that it was just as awesome as this one. Peter David gives us a depressing but oftentimes funny peek into one possible future where Layla has been trapped since Messiah Complex, and it’s a very good read.
I hope she returns to the regular X-Factor book soon because really, it’s been sort of a bore since she left. Though I wouldn’t mind if I see more of her and the new characters David introduced in this one-shot, including Cyclops’ red (hyuk!) hot daughter, in another special or a mini-series. Also, CYBORG CYCLOPS!
SECRET INVASION
Guardians of the Galaxy #4 – Nobody among the Guardians has been revealed as a Skrull yet, but a shocking truth has been revealed nonetheless. Star-Lord has a lot of explainin’ to do! But the best part of all this is the fierce tension between Rocket Raccoon and Cosmo, the Russian cosmonaut dog. That’s a showdown I’m eager to see.
Incredible Hercules #120 – I have to admit. Between heads getting blown up and Skrull gods being butchered, I said “HOLY SHIT!” a lot. It’s official: I’m going to stick to this title for a while since I was deeply awesomed by this issue.
Secret Invasion #5 – Ah yes. The issue that finally confirmed what Filipinos have been thinking for the last few years: our president is a damn dirty Skrull. Or not. Whatev. I enjoyed this issue more than I thought I would. There may be plot holes, but I think Leinil Yu’s ever improving art makes up for it.
Secret Invasion: Inhumans #1 – This is a gorgeous book. The cover is sexy, but sad sexy. Just the way I like it. The story’s pretty standard in Secret Invasion terms, but I’m officially hooked.
Secret Invasion: Runaways/Young Avengers #2 – Two reasons why this issue rocks face: 1) “Princess Powerful powers, activate!” and 2) Old Lace enjoying her Skrull meal. Skrullilicious!
Secret Invasion: Thor #1 – So far, Matt Fraction writing Thor is always a home run. Whether he’s writing him as the Thor from Norse mythology or the Marvel Universe Thor, it’s always a WIN. Also, BETA RAY BILL!
Secret Invasion: X-Men #1 – I’m pretty sure this mini-series won’t have a significant impact on the main Secret Invasion mini, but I find the concept of General Cyclops commanding his X-Men army to execute guerilla tactics against invading shapeshifting aliens very hard to resist.
X-Factor #34 – Concluding the She-Hulk crossover and Secret Invasion tie-in, this issue didn’t really do it for me. The story’s sort of meh, and the art? Well, I don’t love it. Let’s leave it at that.
FINAL CRISIS
Final Crisis #3 – Finally, I’m starting to really appreciate this mini-series. The Trinity being taken off the board, Hal Jordan being arrested, Alan Scott’s super-hero draft, and “We have to kill the Internet!” It’s all pushing my geek buttons. Also, I must confess that I love the Supergirl cover. Don’t judge me!
Final Crisis: Legion of 3 Worlds #1 – I’ve been looking forward to this since it was announced, and by God I think all my expectations have been met! Well, so far. George Perez drawing tons of characters will always be a hook for me, and then there’s Geoff Johns. I missed out on his Legion story in Action Comics, but I heard a lot of good things about it. Most of the issue is practically just an introduction, but I was deeply awesomed nonetheless. So I’m seriously anticipating the remaining 4 issues.
OTHER FACE-ROCKING COMICS
Astonishing X-Men #26 – I love the fact that Warren Ellis is obviously making Wolverine the comic relief in this book.
Avengers/Invaders #4 – OK, this just isn’t doing it for me. Dropped.
Batman #679 – I hope to God that this whole Batman R.I.P. business will pay off because really, I’m struggling to enjoy this acid trip.
Captain America #41 – “‘I’M CAPTAIN AMERICA!” FUCK YEAH!
The Invincible Iron Man #4 – It’s clear why this title will soon be the sole Iron Man monthly book. It’s fricken awesome. Also, THE TRIUMPH DIVISION!
Punisher War Journal #22 – I didn’t see that betrayal coming. I also didn’t see the Wrecking Crew coming. The hell?
Uncanny X-Men #501 – Much better than #500, but it still needs that oomph I’ve been expecting from Brubaker and Fraction.
Wonder Woman #23 – I love Gail Simone and Aaron Lopresti, but I think I’m going to look at a preview of the next issue first before I consider getting it. It’s not working for me.
X-Men: First Class #15 – Still chock full of chuckles. For the skajillionth time, I love this book.
Secret Invasion did a number on my wallet in the last 3 weeks. Dayum. Well, see you guys next time! I’m still hoping that I can do this comic reviews thing on a weekly basis. *crosses fingers*

Supergirl on the cover of FC: "Cock goes where?"
@Ade: And she looks like she’s kneeling. :(
It looks like she’s giving directions thank asking. "Cock goes here."
Crap, I didn’t buy any comics this week T_T
