Site Pimping and Social Networking

Scientists say that 7% of the Internets is all about asshattery and dickery, while 3% is serious business. The remaining 90% is porn. I can attest to the porn number, and this blog more or less falls under the Asshattery & Dickery category. For the serious business side of the Internets, though, I have the perfect examples. I know this for I have firsthand accounts. Yes, ladies and gentlecreeps, all this bogus statistics bull is just an introduction to my pimping of the following:

bum no more

Bum No More is a blog about tips and guides on employment, lifestyle, and other things that might interest new college graduates and young upwardly mobile professionals. It’s only been online for less than two months, but it already has a wealth of wisdom ready to be devoured by hungry young job seekers and corporate n00bs. Aside from this, job seekers can also subscribe to the Bum No More Weekly Newsletter that features entry level job openings every week.

Check out the Contribute section of the blog if you’re interested in contributing articles that will most probably save the kids, as well as our economy. Check out The New LTO Experience: A Guide to Driver’s License Renewal, Student Organizations: A Great Resource For Starting New Careers, and Elevator Etiquette so you can get an idea of what to contribute. pinoydvd online store pinoydvd forum

If you’re already comfortable with your job and you’re swimming in a pool of Php500 bills, you might want to check out the PinoyDVD Online Store, which offers original DVDs and cool gadgets. If you don’t have the moolah, you can always just talk about movies, DVDs, and home theater stuff at the PinoyDVD Forum.

Now that I’m all pimped out, let me tell you about this woman:

ewwwww

She single-handedly convinced me to delete my accounts on several social networking sites. I mean, Jeezaz Cries, woman! Have you no shame?!

OK, I’m exaggerating. After the awesome (well, at least for me) announcement I made last week, I decided to update my relationship status in my social networking accounts. Because really, how else can I let my friends know about my love life? You can’t expect me to talk to them in person, right? Intimate talks between friends and family are sooo last decade.

So anyway, as I was about to change my status in Friendster, I realized I have a lot of social networking accounts. Half of them bring me in contact with psychos and weirdos. Newly Girlfriended And Now Elitist Baddie will have none of that! As a result, I deleted a few accounts.

netlog

Hi5 and Netlog both look cool, but they also feel so highschooly. And Tagged? It just feels crappy all over. So, yeah. Deleted 3 accounts. I managed to hold off on deleting my accounts in Yahoo! 360, Zooomr, and Wakoopa. I don’t have plans in maintaining them anytime soon, seeing that Yahoo! 360 will be reincarnated next year, and Wakoopa and Zooomr quite possibly may offer me some value in the future.

Here are my remaining accounts and a few comments on why I kept them:

  • FacebookCome on. Where else can you poke hot chicks without being slapped square in the face?
  • Multiply – By far, this is still the most popular and useful social networking site out there. And by “useful”, I mean “you can upload all the crap you want to upload”.
  • Friendster – I haven’t been logging into this service as often I used to, but I still see it as my main resource of connections. Meh.
  • ComicSpace – Because I’m a geek. ‘Nuff said.
  • Eskwela – I dunno. Maybe because it’s Pinoy? Also, they gave me a shirt.
  • LinkedIn – All business here, kids. Move along.
  • MySpace – As much as I loathe the horrid blinking backgrounds and appalling customized themes, I somehow wanted to keep my contacts here. Probably because they’re mostly hot chicks.

What. That’s it.
