For this post, I’m going tech geeky on you folks. I’ve been in love with WordPress and its multitude of plug-ins ever since I first tried to be cool by creating my own WordPress-powered blog. So for this Top 5 Lists post, I’m going to give you my top 5 favorite WordPress plug-ins. Yeah, the stuff that the blogger in me can’t live without.
#5: Admin Dropdown Menu - It may seem useless at first, but when it’s crunch time and you need to go to a lot of different places in your WordPress administration panel, Admin Dropdown Menu saves you a lot of clicks and time. Seriously, it makes using the admin side a lot more easy and efficient.
#4: WordPress Database Backup - Another seemingly “redundant” plug-in since you can just go into whatever software you’re using to manage your database to back it up, but like Admin Dropdown Menu, this makes things easier. You can do the backup right in the admin side and you can choose which tables you can backup in addition to the core database WordPress tables. Sweet.
#3: WP-ShorStat - I always like to see how many unique visitors this blog gets. I also enjoy seeing where visitors are coming from and what search terms they’re using on search engines that bring them to this humble blog. It’s fascinating to see weird search terms like “retard porn”, “bakekang”, and “rhinoplasty in Orlando“.
#2: Ultimate Tag Warrior - I never realized how big a help UTW can be until I tried it and got a lot of visitors coming in from search engines that found my blog because of the tags that UTW help me set up. Seriously, it can be UTW or any other tagging plug-ins, use tags on your posts! It helps a lot in attracting new visitors to your blog.
#1: Spam Karma 2 - I hate spam. I hate it so much that the word “spam” itself makes me want to go on a berserker rage. SK2 is helping me battle the spammers, both human and non-human. Although a couple of spam messages still get through once in a while, but nothing that can spoil my day.
If this were a top 6 list, the Random Header plug-in would be at #6. Yeah, I like random headers. It gives the illusion that my blog is not boring.
