February 26th, 2007 Comics

It’s been such a busy news week in the world of comics, thanks to the New York Comic Convention 2007, I don’t know where to start. DC elaborated on its new and upcoming weekly series, Countdown. It will immediately follow DC’s current kick-ass weekly series, 52. Countdown will mainly focus on 5 storylines: Jimmy Olsen‘s, Mary Marvel‘s, the search for Ray “The Atom” Palmer, 2 villains forced to work together, and most probably Darkseid kicking everybody’s ass. It will also serve as a “spine” for the whole DC Universe for a whole year as it reflects what’s happening everywhere in the DCU in “real time”. Sweeeet.
Over at Marvel, they’ve got big plans for the fallout of Civil War, which ended this past week. The Initiative will span the whole Marvel Universe and will introduce a host of new heroes and villains. Other than a new Fantastic Four, a superhero team per American state, and Tony Stark being the new director of S.H.I.E.L.D., Marvel fans will be treated to another interesting piece of smashing Marvel goodness: the Hulk‘s return. In World War Hulk, the jade giant will be hunting down the douchebags who sent him to space, and I hope he smashes their puny heads like grapes. I can’t wait.

February 24th, 2007 Blogging
To end my five-part Baddie Bookmarks series, I’d like to share links that are related the my favorite topic. The topic I’ll never run out of time to talk about. The topic that’s the most important of all: Me. Yes, I’m going to show you my past stomping grounds on the Intarwebz. I warn you, it won’t be pretty.

Let’s start with my old blogs. Exhaust was my first blog. It’s where I learned how to create a blog, but unfortunately, I didn’t learn to successfully maintain a blog until further down the road. I’ve had several regular readers and visitors in this blog. Most of them vanished when I moved on to another blog. More on that other blog later. While I was blogging on Exhaust, I created another blog. The Diary of the Wolf.

Needless to say, it was a way to let out my inner retarded psychopath. Both these blogs contain sophomoric emo drama, irritating lonely guy angst, and sub-par spalling and grammer. You’ve been warned.

It’s pretty obvious that I’m not just a casual comic book fan. I live, eat, and breathe comics. I love the art and the mythology. I cringe at gory death scenes. I cheer for the underdog. I giggle at the ridiculously hot half-naked women. I admire the heroism. I read in awe the grandeur of megalomaniac villains. I thrill at battles of cosmic proportions. And between my weekly comic fixes, I turn to the web for digital comic geekery.
Marvel. I’m a Marvel whore so it’s already a habit for me to visit the site to get updates on comics on sale, news on upcoming comics, blogs by editors and creators, wallpapers, and I even check out the character profiles when I have nothing else to do. This doesn’t mean I don’t visit the DC website. I do. I check out comics on sale and some other stuff when I’ve already exhausted my Marvel cravings.

Baddie Bookmarks, my series of posts that documents my web surfing habits, won’t be complete if I don’t talk about the blogs I regularly visit. Most of those blogs are being authored by Filipinos, but there are sprinkles of foreign blogger blood in my feed reader too.

The Man Blog and the individual blogs of its resident retards: rising Internet star Mikey; Adam Mordo, the human walrus; the newly hitched MigraineBoy; Coco, El Gran Douche-O; the best damned thing since Coco, Riffology; Squid, the Snarkinator; the retarded daily NoisyNoisyMan; and that dude who creeps me out, Steel. Just when you thought you can’t take this fraternity’s badassery anymore with the blog, they take it a notch higher with the awesome awesomeness of the TMB Forum. Disclosure: My soul has already been corrupted by this group of degenerates ever since they inducted me into their manly ranks. Assholes.

In this, the second part of Baddie Bookmarks, I share to you the websites that save me during idle time. Sites that entertain, inspire, and boggle my simple and frail mind. These sites keep me busy and smiling when the emo meter hits a critical juncture. These sites give me pleasure, and there’s nothing I like more than pleasure. Hedonists reprezent, yo!
The Onion. Before I discovered the joy of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report, I enjoyed the irreverent “news source” called The Onion. From dumb stories about America’s dumb leader, to quirky “human condition” tales of the local man, this is comedy gold for the thinking dickhead. Finest indeed.
