I always wanted to start something unique, special, and awesome online. My blogs are nowhere near unique or special, and I’m the only one who thinks they’re special. Same goes for the UPLB online community website. Well, I do think that some people think it’s special, but that’s my ego talking. Now I’m just striving for something cool and kickass. Just like this dude’s cool, kickass, and mildly annoying pose.

Okay. That’s not necessarily cool. And not exactly kickass, although you may want to kick his ass. And it’s not mildly annoying. Extremely irritating is more like it. I digress.

With all of the great ideas out there right now, it’s so freakin’ hard to think up of new and exciting things. But since I think I’m so brilliant, I came up with something that would find it’s own niche in the Filipino interwebs. Something that would so totally rock. Something that may actually pay for itself through ad placements. Something I would like to call *drumroll* Astigg!

Yeah. Double “G” to get on the Digg bandwagon. And yeah, it’s a community-powered news site. And yeah, the name includes the exclamation point. I thought someday, when I’m this old grumpy dude living in a house by the beach or at a San Francisco nursing home, I’ll be telling my grandchildren about the time I created this awesome website and how it made me as rich as Donald Trump’s hairstylist.

So there I was, ego expanding like my sexy manly body with the thought that I came up with a kickass news site for Pinoys. I started immediately to think of the site’s layout and design. I downloaded Pligg and I began to set up a test site. And then I decided to pick up the domain, just to lock it out from other brilliant minds out there. And that’s when I realized my awesome idea was no longer mine, and I’m not as special as I want to be.

I discovered the domain was already taken. Worse, the existing Astigg! website is exactly what I cooked up in my kooky little mind.

I guess no matter how special I think I am, it’s true what they say. “You’re special. Like everybody else”. Or something. Now leave me alone while I curse at those damn kids and their damn silly pictures.
