Got hit by a blog meme by Shona. It’s about 9 weird things about me. Why 9? Why not?
It’s hard, actually. After all, you have to think of things that are just normal for you but not for most people. You have to think like other people. Like normal people. It becomes hard when most people also exhibit their own little eccentricities. It becomes harder when even your own friends aren’t really normal. Hahaha! But seriously, everybody’s weird in their own little way. And a select few are just purely retarded. And to be P.C., I’d just like to call them “special”. Hehe. And now for the weirdness:
- I find chicks (baby chickens, not hot human females) creepy.
- I enjoy the tranquility of being in a big crowd, and the noise of being alone.
- For me, professional wrestling is still real.
- The best conversations I have are with myself.
- I actually think a lot of people read this crappy blog.
- I believe in winged unicorns.
- When everybody loves a certain song, I tend to hate it.
- I refuse to kiss girls wearing lipstick, lip balm, or lip gloss.
- I have the mutant ability to hide my mutant ability.
And just for fun, 10. I harbor ill will towards the following:

Well, I hope you’ll still want to be my friend after reading this. I’m now off to spread the meme to 9 other weirdos.

A few days ago, I went to my favorite comic book shop, ComicQuest at the Festival Mall. I do that every week. Well, mostly every week. I try to be there every Thursday night so I can be one of the first geeks to see the new comics for the week. It has been a routine. And my wallet hates me for it. Oh, sweet wallet. So naive to the perils of Baddie having a job and a steady flow of cash.
Anyway, this particular trip to the four-color heaven I call ComicQuest was special. Usually, the only females there are the clerks. Rarely do I see female customers. If they’re there, they’re with their boyfriends. Or sons. Or husbands. Or brothers. This trip was different. There were 2 female customers. One of them was a chubby girl with her guy friends trying to look for a gift for someone. That someone was probably a Transformers geek since the girl was hellbent on finding a Transformers comic or action figure that would agree with her budget. The other girl… well, she’s a goddess.

Originally, my 25th birthday bash was set on the night of my birthday, September 29th. But Milenyo (that stupid typhoon) got in the way. After two weeks of waiting for Miramonte to be cleaned up and to have power again, I finally got to celebrate my birthday last night. And thanks to Jelai (a.k.a. Nacky/Mamshie), my official party coordinator, and her assistants (hehe.), it was the best bash I’ve had so far. It was, as the kids these days like to call it, rawkin’. It was worth the wait. It actually washed away the terrible memory of Milenyo. Stupid typhoon.
I just started in my new job last Wednesday, so I had to come from Ortigas and be late for my own party. And I’m thankful again for Jelai and my other brothers and sisters in UPLB MASS for holding the fort while I was still on the road. I met up with Van, Madz, and Jeno (MASS brods and sisses) in Ortigas so we can go to the party together. I made a stop in Alabang to make an ATM withdrawal. It was stupid of me not to do it before yesterday because I totally forgot that it was payday and all ATM machines were like big summer blockbuster movies. Long lines are so totally uncool. We also made a stop at our house in Sta. Rosa because I had to get my stuff and Fucker (my Rav 4). I can’t go to my party without bringing Fucker. It’s like going to your own birthday party without inviting your bestfriend.
The party was the biggest one I’ve thrown so far. And it’s very gratifying that I financed it all by myself. Thank God for jobs. Billiards, videoke, swimming, alcoholic beverages, food, and friends. It can’t get any better than that. But of course, it wasn’t perfect. I wasn’t feeling very well, but I managed. And also, not all of the people I invited were able to come. But I can’t stress how perfect it felt for me. Good times, good times.
I’d like to extend my sincere gratitude to the following:
- Jelai – I can’t thank you enough, dude. Thank you for being my daughter (“nacky”), my younger/older sister, my mother (“mamshie”), my moni buddy, and sometimes even my jealous pseudo girlfriend. Hindi ako makapangchicks ng maayos pag kasama kita. Badtrip. Haha! Alabshu!
- Sui Generis – Van, Jelai, Madz, Mau, Bryan, and the now “lost” Jean. Dudes, thank you for making me happy especially when you’re all drunk. Hehe. It’s no secret that you’re my favorite batch in UPLB MASS. And it will always stay that way. Mehel ko keyong lehet! Hehe.
- E1 Dudes – Marcel, Oboy, and Dom. You guys rule! Thank you for all the moni sessions and all the serious, enlightening, hardcore, bastusan, kulitan, alaskahan, and weird conversations. Drinking buddies for life, yo! Dahan-dahan lang sa pangchichicks. Hehe. Rakenrol!
- Rosch – Dude, thank you for helping out with the party coordination. And also for taking care of Sui Generis in their whimsical drunk mode. Hirap mag-alaga ng mga lasing noh? Hehe.
- Jeno – Pardz (haha!), thank you for assisting me in keeping the party in order. We were comfortable because we knew that there was an adult around. Haha! Thanks also for introducing me and the E1 Dudes to the wonderful world of Tres Cepas and that delicious “wood”. Kitakits na lang sa Ortigas. Hehe.
- MASStig Brods & Sisses – Although I’m not really close to most of you resident members, I always enjoy the little moments that I get the chance to talk to you. Corny, but true. Good luck with all the upcoming activities! If you need help (preferably not financial. hehe. joke lang.), I’m just a text/call away.
- The eLBizen Core – Dina, Van, Mike, April, and Basil. Thanks for coming! I know you felt a little bit OP (except for Van. hehe.) because most of the people at the party were MASStigs, but I know you also had a good time. Well, I hope so. Hehe. For those Core members who weren’t able to make it, wish you were there. Hehe. Thank you all for the greetings and for helping me maintain yUPieLBi.com.
- Team Deck – Chel, James, Roselle, and those who weren’t able to come to the party, thank you for keeping me sane during the times when I was ready to pull out my hair (well, hindi na ngayon kase kalbo na ‘ko ulet. hehe.) because of our job. I’ll miss you guys and I hope to keep in touch with you.
- Those who were too busy to join the party – Losers. Haha! Joke lang. Thanks for the greetings. I understand why most of your were not there. But it would have been better if you were. Oh well, there’s always a next year. Hehe.
I’ve always wanted my 25th birthday to be more special than my other birthdays. And thanks to the people I mentioned above, it was. You all made me happy. So happy, in fact, that I almost forgot that I’m single. Haha! Alabshududes!

Dear Jesus,
What’s the deal with that typhoon?! I mean, I prepared a month in advance for my 25th birthday party! The stage was set for an overnight swimming party at a resort in Miramonte! I invited a lot of people! A lot of them confirmed! And then you wash away my bash with a big ass typhoon?! What the hell, dude! Please tell your Almighty Dad that I was pissed off. Not only did this “Bagyong Milenyo” asshole ruined my birthday, it ruined our house too! No, scrap that. It ruined our entire town! My body is still hurting because of all the heavy lifting before, during, and after the damage of this stupid typhoon. This 25th birthday gift is so totally not cool.
But the damage to our property is something temporary. Compared to some families’ loss after the deluge, ours is trivial. They lost loved ones. I guess I don’t have the right to whine about a postponed party, a body that aches like hell, and several ruined pieces of furniture when a lot of people lost their lives during the typhoon. I’m sorry for being such a baby about this.
Tell your omnipotent father that I’m thankful because none of my family members got hurt. Thank him for making my birthday… umm… interesting. Thank him because for the first time in a long while, he had me “celebrate” my birthday with my family the whole day. Thank him for letting me realize that property can be ruined for a couple of days, power can go out for several hours, but friends and family will always be there, low-batt cell phones and all.
Please ask your awesome dad to bless my family, my friends who still had time to greet me on my birthday even though they had other stuff to attend to like cleaning up their homes and taking baths, and all the people who had terrible losses because of the typhoon. They need and deserve it more than a bitter whining baby like me.
P.S. Your dad sure works in mysterious ways. Later dude!
Yours in good and bad, Gino.
